The Tiny Desk AI trend takes the last ~19 seconds of Charlie Wilson's 2023 NPR Tiny Desk concert, where he closes with The Gap Band's "Outstanding", and uses an AI video model to put new people in the band. It went viral on TikTok in October 2026 with a parody starring college football coaches whose teams had just lost.
The effect: the original shots, cuts and song stay the same, but the lead singer laughing in the close-up (and sometimes the keys player, the sax solo and the backing singers) are replaced by someone else.
